Extra passwords for characters.
I'm always very neurotic whenever I log in, freaking out over the stories i hear of players who have been hacked.
For security reasons, I think it would be a good idea to have character passwords. So that after you have logged in, each character has a separate password to protect them from use of outside sources. Say for example when you create a character, after you have named it, perhaps ask to have a password created for that character.
Now I know logically this is kinda dumb, seen as most hackers just go in and take the whole account, but it might subdue some of them knowing that even if they do get the master password, they cant access the persons characters or storage without knowing the character passwords.
I also think this would be good for people who share accounts. I have friends who share their accounts with little brothers/sisters etc and it would be ideal for them to be able to protect their own characters from the malice of a disgruntled sibling who might delete their characters out of spite.
This would also work with deleting them. In order to delete a character you would need their password to do so. Working again to turn away hackers from the temptation to ruin someones account.
The only downside to this may be the people who believe they are incapable of remembering all these different passwords. personally, after my email, guild wars, net banking, forums etc I am able to keep them all in the top of my head. But then again, nothing is keeping you from writing them down on a post-it note.
Guild wars is pretty good security wise but after playing the game for so long, you can never be too careful when it comes to your characters and all the work you put into them.

That is a ridiculous idea, as I have multiple accounts with now over 20 characters, there is no possible way to keep up with all the new needed passwords. If security freaks you out that much, just switch you password monthly and change your login (screen name) bi-monthly. You can gain email address from you web provider or use yahoo, hotmail etc...

sorry but I would like to only have to sign in once and play the game. I don't want to spend five minutes going through passwords. If your that afraid of getting hacked try to use a combination of letters and numbers for a password.

Quit being so incredibly paranoid over a video game, as long as you're smart your characters will be fine. Getting 'hacked' (AKA some nerd getting lucky do to your carelessness) is 100% natural selection. If a paranoia case such as yourself doesn't do this already, i think your best bet is just to not do anything careless on the internet i.e. download keyloggers etc. and you'll be fine. The same stuff you hear all the time.
Also it's somewhere in the absurd EULA that it 'isn't allowed' to share one account between two people. And as far as not being able to trust your brother/sister with a video game, that's your own personal problem, and that's all. lol.
You have a password, and an e-mail address login that is NOT visible to anyone else. That's more than enough anti-hacking measures for me.

Totally unnecessary. If you think your account password isn't safe enough, change it.
The only real use for it would be, as you said, to share an account with other people, but you shouldn't be doing that in the first place.

This, don't download stuff that you shouldn't and you won't be getting any malicious programs on your computer and don't be stupid and tell everyone your email and password in game and the odds of some one "hacking" you are lower than you winning the lottery.

/signed - I will only have about three characters and remembering the passwords will be easy for me. It'll cause no harm for ArenaNet to implement it.

Assuming it's optional, I wouldn't mind.
I wouldn't use it, but like you said, some people are neurotic.

Although I like quite the Tweak UI paranoia tab, this is way too much paranoia.

this seems somewhat unneeded compared to the excellent idea to 'lock' characters from ever being deleted. i know that i wouldnt give a crap if i lost all of my items, its my achievements and title progress i care about. that suggestion is somewhere on guru, go /sign that one instead...

no....but having a password to DELETE the characters would be fine (that would help with the hacking issue).....but to change characters, heck no! I was truellllllly happy the day they got rid of rererereresigning in to get to a different character (have a few mules and logging out, and in, out and in out and in was a royal pain in the ......)...I dont need a bunch more to remember (eg I have more than 10 characters)

i think a better idea i saw in one of the threads before was to lock a character for 6 months so noone can delete it no matter what...but i would like the pw too because hackers ( I have been hacked before...) can still get on the character and delete everything...but...make it optional so these people that don't want it dont have to put a password on their characters..i mean what if someone with every title maxed excluding the mutual titles, got their account hacked? and their character deleted...they worked long for to accomplish that...
/signed
PS: For the people that didn't sign, if you get hacked im sure you would wish to have this idea implemented in the game.

Some people share accounts with their brothers/friends/girl(boy)friend, i think that would solve many many many problems. And its not a MAJOR update, or is it?

I would prefer if this idea was left to optional, despite I can remember all my passwords, I would get too annoyed typing in passwords to access my characters expecially when I want to switch mules and find stuff.
And on the side of an account getting hacked, if your master password gets hacked and someone gets into your account can't they as easily get access to your character account just as easily, expecially if you have a keylogger? If they've already hacked your master password somehow, my guess is they can easily access a character password..just my $.02
But for sharing accounts with family/friends, account passwords seems logical

God no. I dont even like to type in ONE pw.
These people get hacked because theyre giving out there account info or running 3rd party programs.
Don't do stupid stuff and you wont get hacked.
Ive been playing for over 3 years have plenty that people would want but have never been hacked because I dont do anything that would allow that.

Would be handy if you're sharing or lending your account out
Also, as mentioned above, it would have to be optional.
